White Sage, Salvia apiana

Ethnobotany: Many indigenous tribes have used white sage for various purposes throughout history. The seeds were considered a staple food often ground into a meal. Even the leaves and stems were eaten. Leaves were also smoked, made into a tea, and used in sweat lodges to cure colds. Crushed leaves were applied to the body to eliminate body odor. The smoke from burning white sage is used widely by many Native Americans for medicinal and ceremonial purposes (USDA, 1999). Today, white sage is used to clear energy to welcome in new energy.  Making wise decisions with a clear mind and looking at what is essential (Kinkele, 2004). The energy for white sage is very grounding. It is an herb that I use if I am wanting a total energy reset.
