Marigold, Tagetes bipinnata
Country of origin: Madagascar
Ethnobotany: The Aztec Herbal of 1552 shows the earliest written record of tagetes used for medicinal purposes. Apparently getting stuck by lighting was commonplace, and a tea with marigold, along with other herbs, was prepared to recover (Neher, 1968). Compared to other essential oils, tagetes is incredibly effective as a mosquito repellant (O’Neal, 2019). The flower represents the element of fire (Cunningham, 2019). Energetically the aromas bring emotional relaxation and calm.
