Ethnobotany: This species of juniper was a very important tree to Native America tribes of the central region of California. The leaves were used as a tea and the bark was used to make tools and bows. The berries were eaten whole or in desperate times ground into a flour and used to make bread. (Ethnoherbalist, 2020).
